James produced his first feature film Jamesy Boy, based on his early life story, starring Mary Louise Parker, Ving Rhames, and James Woods. The film was released on Netflix in 2014. Since then his documentary short film, We Live This, was honored with the Tribeca Film Festival’s Special Jury Mention in 2015. His work has also been featured in the Saatchi & Saatchi New Director's Showcase at Cannes, on Vimeo's Staff Picks, in The Atlantic, on NPR, and on HBO’s Vice, and Vice.com.

James crafts authentic stories of the human condition through the power of cinematic language. His work is intuitive and immersive, conjuring images that draw us deeply into the human experience. He uses both narrative and documentary style filmmaking to connect with audiences in a visceral way.
